Schooling Options
In most contemporary educational systems of the world, secondary schooling consists of the second years of formal training that occur during adolescence. It is characterized by transition from the typically compulsory, comprehensive major training for minors to the optionally available, selective tertiary, "post-secondary," or "larger" education (e.g., college, vocational school) for adults. Depending on the system, schools for this period or a part of it might be called secondary or excessive faculties, gymnasiums, lyceums, middle colleges, faculties, or vocational colleges. The actual boundary between primary and secondary training varies from country to nation and even inside them, but is usually across the seventh to the tenth year of schooling. In the United States and Canada primary and secondary schooling together are typically referred to as K-12 education.
